Types of Jamaica Villa Weddings
At Jamaica Villas, we generally group weddings into one of two categories:

- Simple Ceremonies With No Outside Guests – If you’re seeking privacy and intimacy, this is the route for you. Should you choose this type of ceremony, no additional guests beyond your villa are invited, and you likely won’t need a wedding coordinator. Villa Chefs are able to cater your event, and your Butler or villa staff will handle all serving, arrangements, and cleanup. Please inquire about pricing for this option.
-
Large Event With Outside Guests – If you’re seeing a more traditional wedding with guests from outside villas and hotels, this is the route for you. Should you choose this option, we will require you to employ the services of a Wedding Coordinator. Over time, Jamaica Villas has developed relationships with a number of on-island wedding coordinators, and your Villa Specialist will be more than happy to help you arrange the right one for you. To secure this option, guests are required to arrange the following:
- Authorization from the villa owner
- On-island wedding coordinator
- Professionally licensed caterer for the duration of the event
- Rental of all glassware, cutlery, linens, and decorations
- Outside guest fee per person (please inquire, as this may vary by event)
- Additional security for the protection of the villa, guests, and vehicles
Important Jamaica Villa Wedding Information
To host your Jamaican wedding at one of our stunning villas, a minimum of a one-week (7-night) villa rental where the wedding will be held is required. For most of our brides and families, this is an added bonus, as guests, friends, and family are onsite for preparations, festivities, and it offers an economical alternative to traditional hotels.
To be married on-island, a minister or marriage officer will need the following to complete your application for your marriage license:
- A copy of both parties’ birth certificates
- Any applicable divorce papers or certified death certificates; if not certified, these must be notarized
- Notarized parental consent for any bride and/or groom under the age of 21 years
- Applicable fees for blessing ($250) and ceremony including documents and licensing ($500)
Individuals to be married must be on-island at least 24 hours prior to the wedding event, and we recommend that applications for a wedding license be made at least six (6) weeks prior to the wedding date.

Fall in Love with the Details – Flowers, Ceremonies, Cake & More
Perhaps our favorite part of each Jamaica villa wedding are the little details that make each event as unique as the brides and grooms that partake. We always love providing our favorite recommendations for villa brides and grooms, and we’re thrilled to share some of them with you.
- The Ceremony – We always recommend that our guests host their wedding ceremonies close to sundown to take advantage of our spectacular Jamaican sunsets. During winter months, sunset is usually around 5:30 PM, while during the summer months, sunset is 6:30 PM, though we recommend your ceremony be closer to 5:30.
- The Flowers – As you can imagine, Jamaica has no shortage of incredible foliage and flowers! For specific corsages, boutonnieres, bouquets, and beyond, we recommend you go through local florists, which either we or your wedding coordinator can recommend.
- The Cake – There are a few directions you can go in terms of wedding cake! While a traditional American tiered cake can be ordered from a local bakery or pastry chef, another option is also a traditional Jamaican wedding cake. This decadent treat is dark and rich, filled with dried fruits, which are marinated in wine and rum for weeks. Your cake will be topped with a crisp white cream and fresh flowers to complement the local atmosphere.
- The Reception – Hosting your wedding and reception at your villa keeps excess costs down, regardless of whether you seek a small wedding or a larger event. From seated dinners to poolside buffets, many reception options are available for your customization. However, should you have a large group, an outside caterer will need to be arranged.
We are thrilled that you are considering a Jamaica Villa wedding, and we’d be honored to host you in one of our breathtaking villas. To inquire about individual villa availability or the prospect of hosting your event, please contact our Villa Specialists.
